Over the years there has been much confusion about among Belle Isle's many institutions: the Casino. this is not a gambling casino, but instead uses the old sense of the saying, an area for "public entertainments." This Casino has been used for this function since the original structure was built in the 1880s, in the role of a gathering place for Detroiters for generations.
The first building to get called the Casino was built-in 1887, as Belle Isle was being become a municipal park. It was constructed to keep events, bazaars, and things of that nature, which its successor was designed to do also. The original building burnt down in the early 1900s.
The original building was replaced in 1907 using a building designed by the firm of Van Leyen and Schilling. This building has continued for everyone its function successfully for well over 10 years now, and it is future seems to get secure get more info well into the future, inspite of the problems that Belle Isle has had in recent years.
